0.9.5
One thing, done properly: invites.
Hoy is built to get things from one Apple device to another with zero friction. And yet the invite - the very first step - could be the most annoying part. Send an invite link through a browser app (Gmail, Slack in a tab, WhatsApp Web) and clicking it landed on icloud.com instead of opening Hoy, even with Hoy installed. The link only worked reliably when shared through desktop apps.
This update is about fixing that, and nothing else. Share invites however you like now. From a desktop app, the link opens Hoy and joins the channel directly. From a browser, it works the way you know it from apps like Zoom: a small invite page opens Hoy for you, or offers the download if you don't have it yet.
0.9.4
- New "Join a channel" option in the New channel view and the menu bar popover: if clicking a received invite link takes you to the icloud.com website instead of the app, paste the link - or the whole invite message - there and join right from the app. (A proper fix with custom link wrapping comes next.)
- The screen-recording camera bubble is now pinnable - drag it to a corner and it stays.
- SVG files now show real thumbnails instead of a blank bubble.
- New Sounds & Volume settings: a stepped volume slider plus chips that toggle each sound and play a preview.
- The media viewer's controls now auto-hide: playback at the bottom, title and actions up top, out of the way until you move the mouse.
- Switching the media viewer to fullscreen and back no longer tears the audio waveform.
- The menu bar popover no longer closes when you click a text-input palette (suggestions, emoji) or the system recording pill mid-capture.
- Typing with an input method no longer loses half-composed text in the composer.
- Settings… is now in the menu bar's right-click menu.
- Settings got a developer contact row.
- Cmd+Q now quits reliably even with a sheet open in the main window.
- Fixed: Esc now cancels the screen-recording overlay even after switching Spaces.
- Fixed: replies to messages could fail to send.
- Visual and layout tweaks.
- Various small bug fixes.
0.9.3
- Supporter badges: anyone with Hoy Pro now wears a small Supporter tag next to their name, visible to everyone in the channel.
- GIFs now animate when opened, and their tiles are marked with a GIF tag.
- Cleaner Channel info: the channel name is the sheet title, renaming happens right there, and the member count sits next to People.
- Replaying the welcome tour now brings the channel back to the menu bar even if you had hidden it.
- Opening your own invite link now says the channel is yours instead of "Already joined".
0.9.2
